Daring Democracy. Promoting Peace.
Willy Brand Center held its annual conference the 6th - 7th of December in Beit Jala under the theme of "Daring Democracy. Promoting Peace.". IUSY was represented by IUSY Secretary General Johan Hassel and IUSY Vice President Cordula Drautz, who is also a part of the WBC Executive Board. Johan Hassel held a welcome greeting on behalf of IUSY and talked about the need to move "from politics of fear to politics of fear" and highlighted the great work done by the WBC and specially thanked WBC Coordinator Britta Lenz for good cooperation. Further on he stressed that IUSY for long have been engaged in Middle East and it is important to keep this focus even in times when peace seems fare away. If today's leaders are not willing - a young generation is willing and ready for peace. As Willy Brandt once said: Let's Dare Democracy! Willy Brandt Center is located in Jerusalem and is activly working for peace in middle east by providing a space where young israelis and palestinians can meet. WBC each year has a lot of projects with a political, social and cultural perspective.
