| Young politicians from the region met last weekend in Amman, Jordan, for the IUSY Mediterranean Committee meeting to discuss the current Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations and to prepare common activities to strengthen the peace process. Building on a spirit of mutual trust and the willingness for cooperation from side of all participants IUSY was able to adopt a new resolution on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With support of its members from Israel and Palestine IUSY will also launch a Peace Campaign to build awareness and increase the pressure on both sides to reach an agreement. For three days delegations from IUSY member organisations from Israel, Palestine, Iran, Iraq, Greece, Italy, Sweden and Norway exchanged their views and experiences with regard to the peace process and their daily political struggle both within their respective organisations and mother parties as well as with regard to the broader public. Other major issues debated at the Mediterranean Committee meeting were the situation in Iran and Iraq as well as possibilities to strengthen the EU-Arab Dialogue.
