IUSY is joining the global efforts taken by people around the world today to raise awareness for the AIDS pandemic and fight prejudices.World AIDS Day is important for reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. Last year, 2.6 million people were newly infected with HIV, and 1.8 million men, women and children lost their lives. Today, there are over 30 million people living with HIV worldwide. For most of them access to necessary medical treatment is still insufficient and they suffer from discrimination and social exclusion. Following this year's World Aids Day theme 'Universal Access and Human Rights', IUSY and its member organizations work around the world for equal chances for everybody and the universality of human rights. Join the global efforts and help fight aids – not people with aids! |
