We give our thoughts to you, Eran Schafferman who earlier this morning, the 11th of July passed away, in Tel Aviv, Israel, after a difficult struggle with cancer. Eran - You left us way too early. Unacceptably early. You fought hard for life, just as you fought hard for the values of freedom, solidarity and equality you believed in. Your energy, commitment and the joy you brought will always be remembered. Your belief in people and political solutions as the way forward to peace, security and prosperity encouraged us all. You were a true politician, you put people first and stood by your principles - also in difficult times – and that was what made you so real and so suited to lead. As IUSY Vice President you were part of leading the global young social democratic movement. You were a protesting voice of conscience against social injustice and dictatorship and a relentless activist for democracy and peace. Your inspiration, your ideas and your passion will remain deeply in IUSY's activities. You were a leading example to many young socialists and progressive activists. We are grateful for your commitment, the inspiration you brought into our movement and the times of joy and hard work we had together. We will always, always remember you. Sincerely, Your friends in IUSY Viviana Piñeiro, IUSY President Johan Hassel, IUSY Secretary General Cordula Drautz, IUSY Vice President and the IUSY World Presidium |
